I really enjoyed our Christmas break, even though Mike still had to work, and was on the phone on meetings/calls, etc. But, there were a few days there (christmas, Christmas eve) when he wasn't even on the phone!
Nia had a blast spending time with her cousins, and her and mae got showered with attention, and gifts! We were able to see everyone in Mikes family (excepting his oldest bro Dan and his family, that live in N.Y.)
The drive was great, we watched the weather and traveled on days that it said would be clear. Thank goodness we were safe!I am weird, I have so many fond memories of driving across country that I really sort of miss it on occasion. Its nice to be all together and get some good talking in. Oh, I forgot, the drive down, we left Wed. night at like 11, the girls were sleeping, we were planning on driving all night. The roads were yucky and foggy and snowing. We made it as far as twin falls, then we were both exhausted already. So we stayed in our fav. hampton Inn and since it was 3 a.m. we got $20 knocked off the price, YEAH! Nia was super excited to be in a hotel and I was afraid she would be wired, but she curled up on her bed and went right to sleep. We slept till 9, had breakfast, the hotel ladies were pampering us, holding mae and getting extra food out for us, we were the only ones there, it was great!! Once we left the roads were clear and great. The girls did awesome and were so patient. Our least fav. part, Truckee,/donners pass was completely dry. :)
We stayed at Grandma Betty's, and did stockings there, santa left our stuff there. Then we went to Mike's sisters and opened gifts. Nia got this duck from Grandma, "Dean" she named it, it was the highlight of the year. Its a cool wooden toy with floppy rubber feet that flop when she pushes it, it looks like a real duck waddling along! She got so many awesome gifts tho, and so did Mae. Mike modeling one of his Imagination Station t-shirts. I got some nice clothes and some kitchen stuff. :)
I forgot to post about this, in november we had the back-end party for work, and mike helped organize/set up and finally run in the 5k race they did to fundraise for Haiti. He did great for not really training at all! At the party later that night Mike got awarded the top regional, and got a flat screen t.v. which he traded in to best by for an ipad! Great job Mike, you totally deserved it, you work so hard.
The greatest Christmas Gift of all...
Mae's tooth popped through just in time for Christmas! Both of her bottom teeth broke through, they have been giving her the hardest time, I've been expecting them literally since she was 3 months old. (guess how long it took me to get that shot? )

Looks like you had a great Christmas. I bet it took you forever to get that tooth shot of Mae. Nia looks so excited for Christmas in that shot with Mae by the tree. Glad that your traveling went so well. (I could of told you, you would of got tired driving in the middle of the night.)
Aw yes, the lovely drive from Idaho to California (and back)...all too familiar! We always want to stop but always just keep going until we finally make it. Sounds like 3 am is a good time to get a hotel! I love the picture with the girls in their red dresses. They're so glamourous! No smiles or anything! Hehe! And yay for Mae's first tooth! Glad your Christmas was fun! And way to go Mike on the 5k! Sheesh!
LOVE that picture of the girls at the very top of your blog. They are just beautiful and I love their outfits. Sounds like a great Chistmas, but wow, we sure hate driving with the kids. You guys are troopers.
